Brda is not just a land of wine and fruit. It is a border area from the point of view of the state, ethnic and provincial border, which has in the past undergone long-term emigration of the population and intensive changes in the cultural landscape. The development, which after the colonnade period took place in the direction of establishing a market economy, created one of the most intensive agricultural regions in Slovenia.

Viticulture has been present in the Brda area since the Roman period. Only during the time of Italian domination, due to a different policy, it stepped aside to make place for fruit growing. At that time, the vines on the cultural terraces made way for fruit trees, especially cherries and peaches. Today, the vineyards stretch over about 1,800 hectares of Brda land.

Today, viticulture and fruit growing support the development of other activities and enable the preservation of the cultural landscape. The area, rich in various natural and cultural attractions, offers many opportunities for quality leisure time to all, locals and visitors.
