The journey of every wine
begins in the vineyard

There are many factors influencing optimal vine growth and development. The soil of Brda, the marl soil (“opoka”) and an appropriate microclimate are essential for a successful vine growth. When a winegrower contributes his share to all these natural resources and adds all his knowledge and experience, chooses appropriate vine varieties and clones, gives them their corresponding place in the vineyard and all of his attention throughout the year, then he is well on his way to his final success in the bottle.

In the document from the year 1302 it is written that a vineyard in Biljana, on the hill called Piesica, was handed over to Judita from Čedad. (Stres, 2015) It is not known how this vineyard later became property of the Hlip family. Today, our best ribula thrives on this hill called “Pjčca”.
